Annual Crown Green Bowling Trip 2014
Annual Crown Green Bowling Trip 2014
Only 14 members and guests were able to attend this years Crown green bowling trip to Old Nells on Sunday the 8th June.
The group was split into 2 and a Round Robin Competition was played with each player playing 6 games with a break for Lunch, which was Chips and Sandwiches. The Bar was in the pavilion next to the green and copious amounts of liquid were needed to keep the day going.
The regular bowlers were given a handicap of minus 2 to give every one a chance of a fair game.
Some hard fought games took place over the day.
The winner of group 1 was Dave White with a score of + 27 with George Hitchmough being second with a score of + 25.
The winner of group 2 was Mick White with + 28 and the second was John Walton with + 23.
A semi final took place and the whites were triumphant and so the final was a family affair with Dave White playing his son Mick White.
The younger man Mick was taking advantage of his strength and playing long marks. Dave survived for a while but Mick White was the winner 11 points to 7
The presentation of the Ronnie Bond trophy took place with our Vice Chairman Brian Stillwell presenting the trophy to Mick White.
All the contestants then retired to the restaurant for a well earned evening meal with some more liquid refreshments being taken.
All those who attended had a good day out.
